Greetings From Our Chairman

Kevin L. Glasper, Sr., Ph.D.

It is my unwavering pleasure and esteemed honor to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Kappa Epsilon Lambda Education Foundation, Inc. Our Foundation was established in 1995, to stimulate the ambition of the youth in Prince George’s County, while preparing them to achieve success as they become productive members of their communities and society in general; with the hope, that one day these same students will be inspired to give back to the Prince George’s County community and build a pathway for future generations.

Each year, our 100+ members give of their time, talent, and treasures to support our work, along with dozens of volunteers, financial supporters, and other stakeholders to enable us to make an impact on the lives of families in Prince George’s County.

The strength of our model is based on a collective brotherhood and coalescing of resources coupled with fostering chapter and communal leadership, responsibility, accountability, respect, and healthy relationships throughout the county and state. As a result of our collective efforts and resources from the Foundation, KEL Chapter and community partnerships, we offer middle and high school youth various youth development activities. The activities include mentoring, group capstone projects, presentation and oratorical skills, leadership and life-skills development, critical thinking skills, relationship building and identifying techniques for conflict management and resolutions. Furthermore, our programs provide financial literacy skills, entrepreneurial ideas, sexual health awareness, academic enrichment, college preparation session for our annual college fair, scholarships for high school students, and holiday food delivery services to families in need. We also coordinate with parents, Foundation and Chapter leadership, and our community stakeholders to organize activities such as college tours, visits to museums and area landmarks, and apply critical thinking skills for viewing certain documentaries and movies.

Our collective efforts enabled us to accomplish the following objectives in Prince George’s County in 2022:

  • Awarded $41,000 in Scholarships to High School Seniors
  • Participated in DoMore24 Campaign
  • Conducted Project Alpha
  • Conducted Virtual College Fair
  • Conducted Alpha Academy Mentoring Program with Group Capstone Projects with over 60 middle and high school students
  • Expanded Our Feeding Families Initiative with giving food baskets to 300 families during the holiday season.

The former board members’ leadership is greatly appreciated as you have set the path forward, placed a high value on accountability and professionalism, and made our way clearer toward our new trajectory. I want to also welcome and thank the returning and incoming new board members for their willingness to serve and share in the responsible stewardship of our resources as we do our very best to make continuous and forward progress in the many months and years to come.

I invite you to learn more about the Foundation by perusing our website and following us on social media. It is because of our loving, committed, and dedicated KEL Chapter and KELEF Board members, community partners, supporters, friends, and everyday citizens that we continually strive to be Servants of All. We look forward to your continuous charitable contributions to our Kappa Epsilon Education Foundation, Inc. Let’s lift up Prince George’s County together!

Sincerely,

Kevin L. Glasper, Sr., Ph.D., Chairman
